MAŁGORZATA FOREMNIAK I BARTOSZ BLASCHKE

MAŁGORZATA FOREMNIAK

A film and theatre actress and a television personality. She was born on 8.01.1967 in Jedlińsk. In 1989, she graduated from the Department of Acting at the Łódź Film School (PWSFTviT) and was immediately hired by the theatre. Her first film role was in the classic comedy Kingsajz, her next, more prominent one was in In Flagranti (1990), where she starred with Bogusław Linda. She gained great popularity among viewers for her role of Doctor Zofia Burska in one of the most popular medical series, Na dobre i na złe (For Better or Worse), for which she received Telekamera Award for the best actress (2001, 2002 and 2003) and Golden Camera Award (2004). She won the Polish Film Award Orzeł (2003) for a supporting female role in Andrzej Jakimowski’s film Zmruż oczy (Squint Your Eyes). In 2001 she was invited to the Cannes IFF to participate in the presentation of the film “Avalon” directed by Mamoru Oshii, in which she played the main role. About her role in the latest film, “Sonata”, directed by Bartosz Blaschke, honoured with the Audience Award at the 46th FPFF in Gdynia, she says: ‘This is a deeply moving story about determination and making dreams come true at the same time. It’s a film which shows an incredible journey, burdened with huge effort and a great struggle to achieve the impossible. To build a dramatic role, I had to penetrate the world of the extraordinary Płonka family. I would describe Małgosia Płonka, whom I played as a quiet, modest mistress. It was a big challenge for me, not only because it was the first time I had played a character who was alive, but most of all because I was building the role alongside a person with a complicated, intimate world. So I had to create a character that, on the one hand, would be my creation, and at the same time would convey the truth about this person and would not offend her in any way.’
